Medanta Global Health Limited, one of India’s largest private multi-specialty tertiary care providers, has announced a strategic expansion into Assam with a state-of-the-art, 400+ bed super-speciality hospital in Guwahati. The upcoming facility at Industrial Estate, Sarusajai on NH-27 represents a capital investment of approximately ₹500 crore, marking a significant milestone in the company’s regional growth strategy. The hospital will deliver tertiary and quaternary care across leading specialties including comprehensive organ transplants, cardiology and paediatric cardiac surgery, neurology, oncology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, gastro-sciences, endocrinology, trauma and robotic procedures.

Medanta, founded by Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Dr. B.C. The healthcare major is also executing expansion projects in Mumbai and Delhi, targeting an additional 2,000 beds.

Guwahati has emerged as a critical healthcare hub for the Northeast, driving strong medical inflows from neighbouring states and cross-border regions. Rising demand for advanced clinical services, medical tourism potential and improving healthcare infrastructure have positioned Guwahati as a lucrative destination for tertiary care investment. Medanta’s entry is expected to further elevate the city’s medical ecosystem and attract specialised talent and capital.

Calling healthcare a right and not a privilege, Dr. Trehan said the project reinforces Medanta’s mission to bring world-class care to underserved markets. The project is expected to generate 5,000–7,000 employment opportunities, boosting regional economic activity.
