Rio: A historic step for the collective interest of Nagas is the NPF-NDPP merger.

Neiphiu Rio, chief minister of Nagaland and president of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), described the merger of NPF and the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) as a historic move for the benefit of the Nagas. In a recent Central Executive Council meeting, he stressed the party’s duty to protect Naga identity and urged cooperation from new committees, promising that restructuring suggestions would be considered.

Highlighting NPF’s presence in Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, he acknowledged support from MLAs and called for stronger engagement in Assam. Rio emphasized the need for veteran leaders to allow space for younger members while upholding Naga culture and identity. He also called for increased discipline and organizational strengthening within the NPF, advocating for a cadre-based approach to empower youth and enhance public awareness of NDA welfare schemes.
