Wedding Season drives 20% surge in Godrej home locker sales as security takes centre stage

The Security Solutions business of Godrej Enterprises Group has projected a strong wedding-season performance for its home locker segment, with sales expected to grow by 20 per cent, fuelled by rising demand for secure, long-term storage amid increased investments in gold, jewellery, cash and important documents. With gold prices at elevated levels, households are reassessing risk and prioritising secure in-home storage as part of wedding planning. Weddings, increasingly seen as a phase of household asset creation, are driving demand for lockers that offer protection from theft, fire and unauthorised access. Godrej’s portfolio of home lockers—stronger than conventional cupboards—caters to a wide range of homes, from compact urban apartments to larger family residences, while also addressing risks from insiders who may have access during large social gatherings.

Pushkar Gokhale, Business Head, Security Solutions, said the wedding season has become strategically important, as secure storage is now closely linked to jewellery and asset purchase decisions, creating a sustainable growth opportunity.

Beyond metros, Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns now contribute nearly 30 per cent of the home locker business, driven by rising disposable incomes and higher gold ownership. Supported by close to 5,000 channel partners nationwide, the company is scaling availability and outreach.

In Guwahati, jewellers and durable retailers report heightened interest in home lockers during the wedding season, reflecting growing security awareness and gold purchases across Assam and the Northeast, positioning the city as an emerging growth hub.

The Security Solutions business of GEG is India’s largest in its category, a Superbrand and award-winning exporter to over 45 countries, while the 1897-founded Godrej Enterprises Group has a diversified global presence across consumer and nation-building businesses.
