Dimapur on High Alert Ahead of VVIP Movement

In view of the likely transit of a VVIP to Assam via Dimapur Airport on April 6, the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T. Imchen, has issued an order imposing temporary security restrictions in Dimapur and Chumoukedima districts. As per the order, the entire Chumoukedima district has been declared a “Red Zone” (No Fly Zone) from 0600 hours to 1800 hours on April 6, 2026. During this period, the use of any kind of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) or drones has been strictly prohibited. It is being speculated that the VVIP is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will travel to Assam from Dimapur for poll campaigning.
The order further stated that all forms of firing practice by security forces, civil police, central forces, private firing ranges, as well as civilian holders of licensed firearms are restricted during the raid period of time. The bursting of firecrackers has also been banned from 0600 to 1800 hours on the said date.
