Plaintiff Abhijit Dipak Raises Concerns Over Ban on Cockoroach Janata Party’s Account

In India, the account of the Cockroach Janata Party on X, which had stirred a satire-driven online campaign on the country’s social media, has been banned. Following the legal request to shut down the satirical party’s X account, the founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, Abhijit Dipak, has now spoken out against the central government. Through Instagram, Dipak released a video message accusing the government of deliberately banning the party’s X account.

Abhijit Dipak said, “I want the public to know why our account was banned. We haven’t written anything wrong here. We were only demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.”

It is noteworthy that this satirical movement, led by the younger generation, began on May 16. Initially, the campaign gained widespread support on X, centred around a remark reportedly made by Chief Justice Surya Kant during a court hearing. Later, its Instagram account was launched.

Within just a few days of its debut, the account’s followers on Instagram reportedly reached nearly 1.3 million. The campaign has now become a major topic of political discussion in the country. The Cockroach Janata Party has created a new record on Instagram by leveraging the popularity of the BJP, considered the country’s largest political party.

It is also noteworthy that on May 16, Chief Justice Surya Kant, during a court hearing, allegedly compared the citizens of the country to cockroaches, referring to them as pests. In protest against this remark, the Cockroach Janata Party was launched, and it has since gained widespread support among citizens and the younger generation across the country.
