Marking 20 years since its foundation, Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited on Thursday launched ‘Value Plus’, an affordable health insurance product aimed at expanding healthcare coverage in Tier 2, 3 and 4 cities, including Guwahati. The company said the new plan offers sum insured options ranging from ₹7.5 lakh to ₹25 lakh for both individual and family floater covers at nearly 20 per cent lower premiums through a curated hospital network. The offering is available for adults aged 18 years and above and dependent children from 91 days to 25 years.
According to the company, customers will receive a full refund of the first-year base premium after five consecutive claim-free years. The plan also includes cumulative bonus benefits, wellness-led support, tele-consultations, AYUSH treatment, home care, ambulance cover and long-term policy discounts. In Guwahati, Star Health currently has 39 network hospitals, including 29 curated Value Network hospitals under the Value Plus plan. Across Assam, the insurer operates through 18 branches and over 13,000 agents. The company said it has covered 1.97 lakh lives in the state and settled 11,330 claims worth ₹58.7 crore during FY26.
Managing Director and CEO Anand Roy said the launch was part of the company’s mission to make health insurance more accessible and affordable for families in smaller cities. Business Head for North-East and Odisha Aditya Biyani said the product was designed to address rising medical costs while offering premium efficiency and wider healthcare access. In Guwahati, the launch reflects rising demand for affordable health insurance products in the city and across Assam amid increasing healthcare expenses. Lower-premium products with higher coverage and curated hospital access could attract more first-time policy buyers in the region.
