Indian Silk House Agencies marks one year in Guwahati; deepens Northeast India play with signature weaves

Indian Silk House Agencies, a leading saree retail brand from East India, has completed one year of operations in Guwahati, marking a significant milestone in its expansion strategy across Northeast India. The company said the Guwahati outlet has emerged as a key destination for saree buyers in the region and has strengthened the brand’s customer connect in the Northeast. The retailer, which has over five decades of presence in the saree market, recently expanded further with a new store in Silchar, taking its Northeast footprint to two states within a year. The company is currently opening one new store every seven to ten days across the country as part of its target to establish 500 stores nationwide by 2030.

The Guwahati store offers a wide range of traditional weaves including Kantha, Baluchari, Matka and Tussar from Bengal, along with Banarasi, Paithani, Bandhej and Kanjivaram sarees from different parts of India. Indian Silk House Agencies also works with over 15,000 artisans across more than 60 weaving clusters nationwide.

In Guwahati, the strong response to the store highlights rising demand for organised ethnic fashion retail and authentic handcrafted products in the city. Industry observers believe Guwahati is rapidly emerging as a major retail and lifestyle hub for Northeast India, attracting national brands looking to tap into growing consumer spending and evolving fashion preferences. Commenting on the milestone, CEO Darshan Dudhoria said the company had entered Guwahati believing the Northeast market lacked organised saree retail and added that the positive response has encouraged the brand to deepen its presence in the region.
