Xiaomi India has announced the sale of the Redmi 17 5G, targeting consumers seeking long battery life, 5G connectivity and performance-oriented features in the mid-range smartphone segment. Powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, the device sports a 17.53cm (6.9-inch) HD+ display with up to 120Hz AdaptiveSync and 825 nits HBM brightness, along with dual stereo speakers and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
The smartphone’s key differentiator is its 7,900mAh battery, paired with 45W fast charging and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging. It runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and offers IP64 protection, storage expansion of up to 2TB, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, AI face unlock and a 3.5mm headphone jack. TÜV Rheinland certifications for Low Blue Light, Flicker Free and Circadian Friendly features are aimed at improving eye comfort.
For imaging, it gets a 50MP AI dual camera with Night, Portrait, HDR and Document modes, while the 8MP front camera includes Portrait, Night Mode and a soft-light ring.
In the Guwahati market, the Redmi 17 5G could appeal to buyers prioritising battery endurance, 5G capability and large-screen entertainment, particularly as consumers compare feature-rich smartphones in the ₹20,000-₹30,000 segment.
Available in Absolute Black, Endless Blue and Eternal Orange, with the latter featuring a vegan leather finish, the 6GB+128GB variant is priced at ₹23,999 and the 8GB+128GB model at ₹26,999. The smartphone is available via mi.com, Amazon.in and Xiaomi retail stores.
