Artificial Intelligence (AI) cannot always be relied upon, and knowledge must be authentic, contextual and validated, said Krishna Maheshwari, Founder and CEO of the Institute for Civilisational Studies (ICS), USA, at a discourse organised by the Assam Royal Global University (RGU).
The discourse, titled “Artificial Intelligence and Indian Knowledge Systems: Epistemic Representation, Knowledge Architecture and the Future of AI,” was organised yesterday at the university campus under the initiative of RGU’s Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems.
Addressing students, faculty members and researchers, Maheshwari said, “The future should be a dialogue between civilisational wisdom and technological capability, where AI helps make traditional knowledge more accessible, while authenticity, context, ethics and human judgement remain central”.
During the programme, RGU and the Institute for Civilisational Studies, USA, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate future academic collaboration in the field of knowledge.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and researchers, followed by academic discussions and an exchange of ideas. It highlighted the relevance of Indian knowledge traditions in understanding and shaping emerging technologies and contemporary knowledge frameworks.
As part of its continued academic engagement, the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems also organised a distinguished lecture titled “The Ideas of Creation and Environment in Ancient Knowledge System of India” on the same day, under the University’s ongoing Creative Talks series.
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Chair of the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Creativity. He offered insights into how ancient Indian traditions and texts conceptualised creation and underscored the importance of environmental stewardship.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Creativity (DBHCC).
