Malabar Group, the diversified business conglomerate and parent company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, has signed a Letter of Intent with the West Bengal government to deepen corporate-government collaboration on CSR and inclusive development. The Group has committed ₹20 crore towards CSR initiatives in West Bengal for FY 2026-27.
The LOI was exchanged with Finance Minister Dr Swapan Dasgupta by Thahsil Ahammed, Regional Head (East India), Malabar Gold & Diamonds, along with Manufacturing Head Sajid N K and Senior Manager, CSR, Shabeer P K. The partnership aligns with the state’s integrated CSR framework involving the Finance Department, State CSR Council, West Bengal CSR Portal and CSR Projects Facilitation Unit.
Malabar Group currently supports 297 Micro Learning Centres benefiting 11,873 children and has provided scholarships to 500 girls. Its Ujjwala Scholarship supports 500 students from the Karigar community. The Group also serves nutritious meals to 1,200 beneficiaries daily, provides street medical services to around 60 people and has completed 629 drinking water wells against a target of 800.
In Guwahati, the initiative highlights the growing role of structured CSR investment in strengthening community development, particularly across education, healthcare, nutrition, housing and artisan livelihoods—areas that could also support deeper corporate-community partnerships in Assam.
The Group has proposed a home for 60 elderly women and committed 80 houses in West Bengal under its Samman Awas initiative. Nationally, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has allocated ₹200 crore for CSR in FY2026-27, including ₹114 crore for education, ₹30 crore for poverty alleviation, ₹14.2 crore for healthcare, ₹25 crore for shelter and ₹16.8 crore for humanitarian aid.
Malabar Gold & Diamonds, established in 1993, operates more than 450 showrooms across 14 countries and employs over 30,000 professionals.
