The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from January 8-10, has been celebrated with great enthusiasm not only in India but also in various countries across the globe. Indian missions and consulates around the world participated virtually in the event and organized their own vibrant programs.
The Indian High Commission in Seychelles hosted a special screening of the PBD inauguration, while the Indian Embassy in Chile organized a similar event to showcase the inaugural proceedings. In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Indian Embassy hosted a lively cultural evening featuring ghazals and songs performed by renowned artist Mohammad Vakil.
In Bhubaneswar, President Droupadi Murmu presented the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards to 27 individuals on Friday, marking the conclusion of the convention with her valedictory speech. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of Youth Affairs Mansukh Mandaviya, and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi were among the attendees. On January 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the main convention. The grand event was attended by distinguished individuals and delegations representing Indian communities from around the world.
