Toyota’s skill development initiative in Mizoram empowers youth for future careers

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), in collaboration with the Government of Mizoram and Zote Toyota, has launched its 67th Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) and the STAR Scholarship Initiative at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Aizawl. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing the employability of students, especially from rural areas, by providing them with technical skills in the automotive sector.

The T-TEP facility offers specialized training in Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Diesel Mechanic trades, combining practical experience and advanced automotive knowledge. The STAR Scholarship Program will assist economically disadvantaged students with financial support, offering up to ₹51,000 per year for their education and living expenses.

The automotive sector in Silchar is seeing steady growth, with a growing demand for skilled technicians due to increasing vehicle ownership and expanding service networks. Graduates of the T-TEP program will be well-equipped to meet this demand, contributing to the local market’s need for qualified professionals while securing long-term career prospects.With over 13,000 students trained through T-TEP and a 70% employment rate in the automotive sector, TKM continues to drive India’s skill development agenda, aligning with the nation’s “Skill India” mission and fostering sustainable employment opportunities.
