Ayurvedic nutrition gains momentum as seasonal shift drives demand

With the transition from winter to spring, demand for Ayurvedic dietary solutions is rising as consumers seek immunity-boosting foods. Ayurveda expert Dr. Madhumitha Krishnan has introduced a 7-day meal plan to balance Doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—while addressing seasonal imbalances. The diet emphasizes warm, well-cooked meals featuring ghee, seasonal greens, and a daily intake of almonds, which support digestion and immunity.

The Ayurvedic diet includes meals such as methithepla with curd, bajrakhichdi, rajma curry with jeera rice, and almond-infused dishes, designed to maintain energy levels and prevent seasonal ailments. Dr. Krishnan also advises including all six Ayurvedic tastes—sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent—for a balanced meal.

Retailers report a surge in sales of almonds, millets, and digestive spices like cumin and black pepper. Restaurants and cafes are also incorporating Ayurvedic principles into their menus, catering to evolving dietary preferences.
