Nagaland made its historic debut at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, marking its first official participation in the prestigious global event. Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio delivered the keynote address at the Expo, firmly placing the state on the global map as a hub of opportunity for sustainable investment and cultural tourism. Speaking on the theme “Investment, Tourism, and Human Resource Opportunities in Nagaland,” Dr. Rio spotlighted the state’s unique blend of natural beauty, ethnic diversity, and forward-looking governance. “Nagaland offers a first-mover advantage across multiple sectors—from agribusiness and eco-tourism to creative industries and technology,” he said. He assured investors of a stable and transparent policy ecosystem, highlighting initiatives like single-window clearances, investor facilitation, and sector-specific policies.
The World Expo 2025, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” brings together global thought leaders, governments, and corporations to discuss innovation and sustainability. Nagaland’s debut at the event is being seen as a turning point in its development journey, enhancing its international visibility and expanding avenues for bilateral collaboration. Following the Chief Minister’s address, Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), delivered an in-depth presentation titled “Nagaland – The Land of Festivals: Celebrating Culture, Creating Futures.” He emphasized the strength of Nagaland’s youth, creative economy, and cultural heritage while outlining key policy frameworks such as the Nagaland Start-Up Policy, Tourism Policy 2024, and the UNNATI Scheme 2024.
“Our strength lies in our people,” said Metha. “From music and arts to gaming, agritech, and handicrafts—Nagaland’s youth are redefining traditional sectors with innovation and energy.”In high-profile business-to-business (B2B) meetings, Advisor for Industries & Commerce Hekani Jakhalu held discussions with global investors, pitching opportunities in food processing, agriculture technology, and start-ups. She stressed the state’s investor-friendly approach and growing entrepreneurial spirit, which she described as key to forging long-term partnerships. “Nagaland is future-ready,” Jakhalu noted, “and we welcome the world to explore our potential.”
