Jio vs Airtel vs Vi

Consumers will now face higher costs for mobile data as Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. and Bharti Airtel Ltd. have discontinued their entry-level prepaid plans. This change is expected to increase the average revenue per user (ARPU) for these telecom companies but will impact everyday users with more expensive recharge options. Here’s a summary of current prepaid plans offering at least 1 GB per day with around 28 days validity:

Reliance Jio:

  • ₹299 plan: 1.5 GB/day (28 days)
  • ₹349 plan: 2 GB/day (28 days)

Bharti Airtel:

  • ₹349 plan: 1.5 GB/day (28 days)
  • ₹361 plan: 50 GB/month (30 days)

Vodafone Idea:

  • ₹299 plan: 1 GB/day (28 days)
  • ₹349 plan: 1.5 GB/day (28 days)
  • ₹408 plan: 2 GB/day (28 days)

This shift sharpens the competition between Jio and Airtel for India’s top telecom spot. TRAI data shows Jio added 1.9 million subscribers in June 2025, while Airtel gained 763,482, and Vodafone Idea lost 217,816.
