A new species of day gecko has been identified near the Brahmaputra river in Assam, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday. This marks the second instance of such a species being documented in the Northeast.
“This is a new addition to Assam’s diverse ecosystem! The newly discovered day gecko, named Cnemaspis Brahmaputra, was found along the banks of the Brahmaputra,” Sarma stated in a post on X.
