According to IMD, September 13–15 will have heavy to extremely heavy rains

From September 13 to 15, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several regions of the state. In a few districts, it has issued an orange alert, meaning to be ready to act. The IMD predicts that from September 11 to 17, Assam will see isolated heavy rainfall and mild to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in most locations. Additionally, it forecasted extremely high rainfall in Assam between September 13 and September 15, 2025. A special weather bulletin from IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, states that on September 13, isolated locations over the Nagaon district are likely to experience heavy (7–11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy (12–20 cm in 24 hours) rains along with thunderstorms and lightning.

On September 14, isolated locations over the districts of Kokrajhar and Barpeta are likely to see moderate rainfall (7–11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy rains (12–20 cm in 24 hours), along with thunderstorms and lightning. On September 15, isolated locations over the Barpeta and Bongaigaon districts are likely to see heavy rainfall (7–11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy rains (12–20 cm in 24 hours), along with thunderstorms and lightning. At 0.9 km above mean sea level, an upper air cyclonic circulation is currently centered over central Assam. The state’s heaviest rainfall, 8 cm, fell in the last 24 hours in Bahalpur, in the Dhubri district.
