Akshay Kumar Confident ‘Bhooth Bangla’ Will Shine Despite ‘Dhurandhar’ Success

In the midst of the unprecedented “Dhurandhar mania” that has seen the Ranveer Singh-starrer shatter records with an ₹850-crore global haul in just five days, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar remains unfazed. As he prepares for the release of his highly anticipated horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, Akshay has dismissed concerns regarding the massive box office momentum of the Aditya Dhar directorial, stating that his team does not let market trends dictate their creative choices.

Speaking at a recent promotional event, the actor emphasized that Bhooth Bangla and Dhurandhar: The Revenge cater to entirely different demographics. While he lauded Dhurandhar 2 as a “great film,” he pointed out that it is an adult-rated spy thriller, whereas Bhooth Bangla is designed as a family-friendly entertainer for all age groups, including children. “When we made this film, we didn’t look at what the current trend is; we looked at whether the story was good or not. We never thought about the trend,” Akshay remarked, highlighting his confidence in the film’s unique appeal.

Bhooth Bangla marks the long-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and legendary director Priyadarshan after a hiatus of 14 years, their last collaboration being Khatta Meetha in 2010. The film, which also stars Tabu, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav, is scheduled to hit theaters on April 10, 2026. Industry experts suggest that the three-week gap between the release of Dhurandhar 2 and Bhooth Bangla provides ample breathing room for the horror-comedy to carve out its own success. With a nostalgic pull and a powerhouse comedic cast, Akshay is betting big on the film being a “game-changer” that will thrive regardless of the “spy thriller” wave currently dominating the charts.
