Assam CM announces Rs 50 lakh to BSF martyr’s family

The grieving family of Rajib Nunia, the BSF jawan who was slain, will receive Rs 50 lakh in financial aid, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced. The message of Sarma was delivered to Nunia’s family in Dayapur, Udharbond, by Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha and Dholai MLA Nihar Ranjan Das on behalf of the Chief Minister.

According to Purkayastha, the Chief Minister was unable to change his scheduled visit to the grieving family during his recent tour of the Barak Valley. Rajib Nunia, 23, was washed away by a severe downpour in Kashmir due to an unforeseen cloudburst. He was assigned to a watchtower at the BSF camp near the India-Pakistan border in Akhnoor. Nunia had achieved martyrdom, according to the BSF, because he had died while performing his duties at the delicate border.
