GOLAGHAT: CM Sarma instructed the Minister of the Water Resources Department to examine the site and implement necessary measures to devise a lasting solution to this persistent problem. He also evaluated the flood-impacted Jathipotia LP School and guaranteed that the repair and renovation of the school building would commence promptly. Subsequently, CM Sarma visited the flood relief camp at Kenduguri LP School, engaged with the flood-affected residents, and promised financial support to a family whose home was entirely destroyed in the recent floods.
Flooding continues to impact around 2.60 lakh individuals from 11 districts, including Hailakandi, Sribhumi, Morigaon, Kamrup, Goalpara, Cachar, Nagaon, Kamrup (M), Darrang, Lakhimpur, and Golaghat.
The flood report from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) indicated that 1,62,108 individuals are impacted in Sribhumi district, while 51,663 individuals are affected in Hailakandi and 36,271 individuals are affected in Cachar district.
Nearly 741 villages across 32 revenue circles remain affected by the initial wave of flooding, with 6311.16 hectares of agricultural land currently submerged. More than 31,000 individuals are still seeking refuge in 130 relief camps and distribution centers located in the flood-impacted districts.
