Two people at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) who were fighting for their lives because of kidney failure were given a fresh lease on life because of the generosity of the family. With the Chief Minister’s approval, a group of knowledgeable doctors from GMCH addressed the family after learning of the untimely loss and asked them to donate their son’s kidneys. The family were reluctant at first but ultimately agreed. After that, the medical staff picked up the kidneys and carried them down a green corridor to GMCH.
The team of skilled physicians saved the lives of two patients by successfully transplanting their kidneys. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma gave Nagaon District Commissioner Debashish Sarma instructions to thank and show appreciation to the family after the successful surgery. To deliver the Chief Minister’s message and express gratitude to the family for their admirable deed, the District Commissioner paid a visit to the cremation site. District Commissioner Sarma commended the family’s kindness and urged others to do the same, saying that such deeds can save a lot of lives in the community.
