Call for deadline as NNPG presses for early solution to Naga issue

The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (W/C, NNPG) has emphasized the necessity of establishing a realistic timeline to resolve the ongoing Indo-Naga political issue, arguing that further delays exacerbate the difficulties experienced by the populace and hinder societal progress. Following a recent joint consultation led by ‘Gen.’ (Retd.) MB Neokpao, senior leaders from various affiliated groups conducted a thorough analysis of significant issues facing the Nagas and the changing political dynamics in the area.

The W/C reaffirmed its commitment to achieve an early and honorable resolution, pledging to actively engage in inclusive political dialogue with other Naga political groups and stakeholders to ensure a united approach towards solving the Indo-Naga political conflict. Additionally, they expressed gratitude towards former interlocutors and outgoing advisor (North East), MHA, and Government of India representative AK Mishra for his perseverance in maintaining the peace process amid numerous challenges. The committee is optimistic that the appointment of Ajit Lal as the new Government of India representative will inject renewed energy into the ongoing negotiations.

Furthermore, the W/C congratulated the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) for successfully finalizing the agreement with the Government of India regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), expressing hope for equitable development and prosperity in the eastern region. The committee called for this historically significant region to concentrate its efforts and resources towards the collective aim of achieving an early political settlement.
