CDSL’s Reimagine Symposium Explores Data-Driven Future for Securities Market

Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) hosted the third edition of its annual symposium, “Reimagine: Securities Market through Data Synergy,” bringing together regulators, market infrastructure institutions, intermediaries and technology leaders to discuss the growing importance of data-driven securities markets. The event was presided over by Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), who emphasised that high-quality, secure and well-governed data is becoming a critical layer of market infrastructure.

The symposium featured three thematic panel discussions on data-led innovation, trust and cybersecurity, and regulatory frameworks for a digital market ecosystem. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, an AI-powered panelist participated alongside industry experts, demonstrating the growing role of artificial intelligence in strengthening market intelligence. SEBI Chairman Pandey also launched the CDSL Investor Protection Fund’s Amar Chitra Katha comic series in 12 languages to promote investor awareness through storytelling.

As part of the event, CDSL awarded ₹12 lakh in prizes under the inaugural Reimagine Ideathon 2026, with Project Sahayak from Goa Institute of Management winning the top ₹5-lakh award. The competition attracted over 1,000 registrations across 21 states and two Union Territories.

Such initiatives promoting investor education, data governance and digital market participation could accelerate the growth of demat adoption in emerging financial centres like Guwahati. With rising retail investor activity in the Northeast, enhanced awareness campaigns and technology-driven infrastructure are expected to strengthen regional participation in India’s capital markets.
