Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday underscored the importance of sustained Centre-State coordination to accelerate development in Nagaland and the Northeast.
In a meeting held in New Delhi, Dr. Singh, who handles key portfolios including Science & Technology and the Department of Space, stressed the Centre’s focus on innovation, scientific research, and technology-led growth in the region.
Rio, joined by Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton and Horticulture and HRD Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse, discussed avenues for enhancing collaboration in areas such as good governance, administrative reforms, and scientific infrastructure.
Singh highlighted several central schemes, particularly under the Departments of Space and Atomic Energy, that can benefit remote and hilly states like Nagaland. He also emphasized opportunities in startup incubation, geospatial planning, and science outreach for youth.
Rio appreciated the Centre’s continued attention to the Northeast and reiterated Nagaland’s willingness to partner in national missions, including skilling, entrepreneurship, and grievance redress systems.
Singh further assured support through the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) for digital training and capacity building of civil servants in the state.
