Cyient Foundation, in collaboration with SIDBI Swavalamban Foundation, has launched an AI & Future Skills Center of Excellence (CoE) at the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC) in Dimapur, marking a major step toward strengthening digital skilling in India’s North-East. The Centre was inaugurated on November 15 by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the presence of Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton and Cyient Founder Chairman Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy.
Designed and implemented by Cyient Foundation, the CoE will offer AI-integrated courses across domains such as handloom and handicraft, software coding, robotics, and emerging technologies. Supported through a CSR partnership with SIDBI Swavalamban Foundation, the project includes advanced AI simulation labs, digital classrooms, and industry-focused training modules.
In Dimapur, industry bodies and local business groups welcomed the initiative, stating that an AI-driven skilled workforce will enhance competitiveness in the region. Traders and entrepreneurs expect the CoE to boost tech-enabled services, MSME innovation, and local start-ups, potentially transforming Dimapur into a key skill and innovation hub in the North-East.
Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy said the Centre reflects Cyient’s mission to “bridge the digital divide” and empower youth for India’s innovation future. SIDBI DMD Sudatta Mandal added that the initiative would create a scalable model for technology-led livelihood generation. The Centre aims to train 200–240 youth annually, with a projected 75% placement or self-employment rate, supporting national missions like Digital India, Skill India, and Viksit Bharat 2047.
