Did Aamir Khan say working in Rajinikanth’s film ‘Coolie’ a ‘huge mistake’? His team refutes the rumours

Actor Aamir Khan’s team on Saturday refuted reports that the Bollywood superstar has criticised Rajinikanth’s latest film ‘Coolie’, in which he features in a cameo role. Recently, a screenshot had gone viral on social media, which was said to be part of a newspaper article, which claimed that Aamir called ‘Coolie’ a ‘big mistake’.

Recently, a screenshot of a newspaper article had gone viral on social media, which quoted Aamir as saying that he sees no real purpose in being a part of the project and also said that it is very poorly written. In a statement, his spokesperson said, “Shri Aamir Khan has not given any such interview nor has he made any negative comment about the film ‘Coolie’.”

He also revealed that the film has grossed over ₹500 crore at the box office. “Mr Khan has a lot of respect for Mr Rajinikanth, Mr Lokesh and the entire team of Coolie. The film has grossed over ₹500 crore at the box office, which itself says a lot,” he said. This comes after a ‘newspaper clipping’ in which Aamir called Coolie a ‘big mistake’ and reportedly said that he didn’t know what his character ‘should have done’.

Coolie, a Tamil film that released on August 14, was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is known for films like Karthi’s Kaithi, Vijay’s Master and Leo, and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram. The Rajinikanth-directed film had Aamir in a small role alongside notable actors like Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra and Shruti Haasan.

For those who don’t know, Aamir plays the role of a gangster named Daha in the film. After the film was released, many people criticized the actor for saying yes to the role. However, before the film’s release, he said that he said yes to the film only to work with Rajinikanth. Coolie has recently become available for streaming on Prime Video.
