The District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) convened an urgent meeting in the Haflong District Commissioner’s office Conference Hall. District Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das presided over the meeting, which addressed road safety concerns and enhanced departmental coordination to protect Dima Hasao’s citizens and guests. The District Commissioner gave clear instructions for enhancing road safety during the meeting.
Identifying accident-prone regions, fixing current flaws, and delegating tasks to different departments and officers in order to successfully execute safety measures were all topics of discussion. Among the directions issued by the authorities were frequent highway frisking operations, especially on the roadways heading to the Falcon Festival. In order to improve security, these steps will involve the installation of manned barricades and the return of night checks. Drivers who accompany picnic parties will have their alcohol intake assessed, and guidelines demanding adherence to safety precautions were given.
Additionally, the district’s goal of having no traffic accident fatalities was committed to. There will also be a reevaluation of how the big night buses in Dima Hasao operate. The District Commissioner underlined how crucial these steps are to averting traffic accidents and guaranteeing everyone’s safety.
