Godrej Agrovet’s winter strategy to enhance fish farming productivity and sustainability

Godrej Agrovet Limited has unveiled a comprehensive winter strategy aimed at addressing the critical challenges faced by fish farmers in Assam during the colder months. As temperatures drop, fish experience reduced metabolic activity, leading to slower digestion and limited nutrient absorption, which in turn hampers farm productivity.

Dhrubajyoti Bannerjee, CEO of the Aquafeed Business at Godrej Agrovet, highlighted the strategic vision behind the initiative, saying, “By leveraging digital platforms and community-driven initiatives, we’re creating a comprehensive ecosystem that empowers farmers to navigate the most challenging seasonal constraints.”

The company’s Matsya Margadarshan campaign utilizes digital platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook to provide farmers with expert tips and advice. Additionally, the Aqua Mitra series fosters community learning, while Godrej Aqua Insiders focuses on sustainability and women’s empowerment in aquaculture. In Nagaon, a key aquaculture market, farmers are increasingly looking to digital solutions and scientific methods to boost productivity during winter. The region’s farmers view the initiative as an opportunity to adopt more sustainable and efficient farming practices, enhancing both profitability and environmental impact.
