Google is improving its AI assistant, Gemini, to carry out real-world tasks such as checking prices and availability directly from search results.
The feature is integrated into Google Search and does not require a separate application or device.
When users search for particular items, a prompt appears asking, “Have AI check pricing” or “Ask AI to call.” Gemini will contact listed businesses, collect information, and present the results in a simplified format.
This automation utilizes the same technology that previously allowed Google Duplex to schedule haircuts and make restaurant reservations.
The feature is accessible to all users in the United States, although those who subscribe to Google AI Pro or AI Ultra have additional usage restrictions.
Businesses have the option to opt out or manage how the AI interacts with them through their Google Business Profile settings.
Gemini 2.5 Pro, which is Google’s most advanced model, powers this feature, along with a new AI Mode in Search and a robust Deep Search function.
Google Search with Gemini update now allows users to make calls through new feature
