The Nalanda Literature Festival (NLF) 2025 was announced for the North East in a vibrant interactive session held at Jyoti Chitraban, Kahilipara, Guwahati, celebrating the theme of “Legacy, Language & Literature.” The festival, scheduled from December 21 to 25, 2025, in Rajgir, Nalanda, Bihar, aims to bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary creativity in collaboration with Nalanda University.
The event was graced by Ex-DGP and eminent writer Sh. Kula Saikia as Chief Guest and Shri Kalyan Chakravarthy, ACS, Cultural Affairs Department, as Guest of Honour. Chairperson D. Aaliya, Festival Director Ganga Kumar, and Padma Shri Arup Kumar Dutta joined other notable participants including Prof. Arupjyoti Saikia and poet Kynpham Sing Nongkynrih, who shared insights on India’s literary and linguistic diversity.
In Guwahati, the festival’s announcement has sparked enthusiasm among the city’s publishers, readers, and cultural entrepreneurs. Local bookstores and art collectives expect the festival to boost literary tourism and inspire collaborative initiatives, connecting Assam’s creative energy with India’s broader cultural movement. The NLF team also paid homage to late singer Zubeen Garg for his immense contribution to Indian music and Assamese culture. With its nationwide outreach programme from September 2025 to March 2026, NLF 2025 promises to unite voices across India, celebrating the timeless spirit of knowledge, art, and imagination.
