ICICI Bank infuses Rs 550 cr into cancer care block in Vizag

ICICI Bank has announced a strategic CSR investment of over ₹550 crore to fund a state-of-the-art cancer care block at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Visakhapatnam. Developed in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), the upcoming ICICI Foundation Block for Child and Blood Cancer will span nearly 3.9 lakh sq ft and accommodate over 215 beds, with completion slated for 2027.

This facility is part of ICICI Bank’s broader ₹1,800 crore commitment to TMC, which includes similar projects in Navi Mumbai and New Chandigarh. The new block will deliver advanced treatments such as CAR-T cell therapy, bone marrow transplantation, and LINAC-based radiation, significantly enhancing the region’s cancer care capacity.

The announcement has triggered optimism sector. Stakeholders see this as a model for future private-sector-led healthcare investments in underserved regions. With serving as a key medical hub for North Bengal and neighboring states, local players anticipate increased demand for specialised infrastructure and strategic collaborations to mirror the Visakhapatnam initiative.
