At Kalachand under Maibang police station in Dima Hasao district, authorities confiscated a significant amount of illegal urea fertilizer from a truck. A truck with registration number WB-65-E-1581 was stranded on the side of the road on the evening of October 5 after colliding with another car, which resulted in a disagreement. After police stepped in, they took the truck, its driver, and its handyman to the Maibang police station so they could be questioned. But the handyman and driver left the truck behind and ran out of the station, claiming to be eating.
Police investigated the car after suspecting foul play and found that it contained 666 bags of urea fertilizer, totaling 29,970 kg, valued at an estimated Rs 14,98,500 on the market. False paperwork claimed the truck was transporting rice. “An investigation is underway, and those involved will face strict legal action,” said Maibang Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vaibhav Rawat.
