Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Jasmine Begum, Dima Hasao, urged the youth to be ambassadors of a smoke-free future, stressing the growing health dangers of tobacco smoking, including as cancer, respiratory disorders, and addiction. Principal Hamida Khan praised the effort, pointing out that schools are essential in influencing students’ conduct and consciousness.
Teachers, department officials, and many students who vowed to support the Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions campaign also participated in the activity. Throughout the month, the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) campaign will take place throughout the district’s schools and colleges and will involve interactive sessions, pledge drives, rallies, and awareness workshops.
