“India is now creating technology”: Assam CM Sarma on BSNL 4G pride

Today’s introduction of BSNL’s Swadeshi 4G mobile network by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a significant turning point in India’s progress toward digital independence. The project, which was fully developed by Indian companies, puts India in the same category with countries that are leading the way in telecom innovation, including China, Sweden, South Korea, and Denmark. “Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, India is not just consuming technology, we are now creating it,” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated during the function. This Swadeshi 4G network is a source of pride for all Indians.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia stated, “The Swadeshi 4G project reflects India’s growing technological might and strategic autonomy in critical infrastructure.” Built by C-DOT, Tejas Networks, and TCS, the network spans around 98,000 sites, connects over 30,000 towns, and serves over 2 million people. It is prepared for a smooth 5G upgrade and is cloud-native. The initiative intends to achieve 100% 4G saturation as part of the Digital Bharat Nidhi, closing the digital divide between rural and urban areas and generating thousands of jobs in the domestic telecom sector.
