Jayant Chaudhary Showcases India’s Leadership in Outcome-Based Financing at UN Meet

India is fast emerging as a global leader in innovative development financing, with Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, emphasizing India’s outcome-based financing (OBF) success at the United Nations’ Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Spain. Representing India in a high-level panel co-hosted by the OECD and Outcomes Finance Alliance, Chaudhary showcased initiatives like the $14.4 million Skill Impact Bond and Project AMBER as models that unite public, private, and philanthropic capital for measurable social returns.

Led by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Indian delegation underscored OBF’s potential to transform skilling, employment, and gender equity. On the sidelines, Shri Chaudhary held key bilateral meetings with global stakeholders including the OECD, CIFF, UBS Optimus Foundation, and Swiss cooperation agencies to explore new avenues in gender-responsive and entrepreneurship-focused financing. In Guwahati, where job-linked skill development is a top priority, stakeholders in the startup and MSME ecosystem see outcome-based funding as a promising route to boost regional employment. With increasing youth participation in vocational programs, investors believe OBF could drive accountability, innovation, and private investment across Assam’s emerging skill economy.
