JK Tyre flags off Indian Racing Festival in Kohima, boosts local economy and motorsport culture

JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, in partnership with the Nagaland Adventure & Motor Sports Association (NAMSA), kicked off its Indian Racing Festival in Kohima, bringing world-class motorsport to the North-East for the first time. Held at the 4th NAP Battalion Ground in Thizama, the event also launched NAMSA’s year-long celebration of 25 years in promoting adventure and motorsport in the region.

The event featured India’s premier motorsport talent across generations, from 9-year-old karting prodigies to renowned racing and rally champions. High-performance displays included international Formula 4 and Wolf cars, drifting showcases with Lexus and BMWs, and gravity-defying stunts by Superbikes—all powered by JK Tyre’s Levitas Ultra range.

Kohima experienced a notable boost, with local vendors, eateries, and service providers benefiting from increased footfall and tourist inflow. Traders noted a spike in weekend sales, while the buzz around the event added cultural and commercial momentum to the city’s growing urban appeal. The spectacle opened with addresses by NAMSA’s Tovi Chophi and JK Tyre’s Hari Singh, followed by a live performance by the DGP Band. The festival now shifts to Aizawl on April 16, continuing its high-octane tour of the North-East.
