Kamrup (Metro) declares October 21 as a local holiday for Diwali festivities

The Kamrup (Metro) district government has declared October 21 a local holiday in honor of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, in accordance with an order from the Assam governor. According to the announcement, all state government offices and educational facilities in the district will continue to be closed in accordance with the National Industrial (NI) Act. Financial institutions are also covered by the order, which invokes Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881. In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, this section permits banks and associated institutions to close on legally recognized holidays.
