Minister P. Paiwang Konyak urges unconditional land donation for hospitals

Nagaland’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, P. Paiwang Konyak, has raised serious concerns over delays in health infrastructure development due to conditions attached by land donors. The minister, currently on his state-wide “Viksit Nagaland for Viksit Bharat” tour, made these remarks while inspecting the upgraded Community Health Centre (CHC) at Satakha in Zunheboto district.

Calling upon citizens to donate land for public healthcare without imposing conditions, Konyak stated, “Such terms are causing unnecessary delays. If we receive full cooperation from landowners, CHC Satakha has the potential to become a model health facility.” He assured that the government is committed to completing the centre and equipping it with additional medical staff once fully operational. Stressing the importance of public health access, Konyak urged residents to enrol in the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and Ayushman Bharat, two schemes aimed at delivering free healthcare services to all.

The minister also issued a stern warning against pharmacies operating without licenses or qualified staff. “The law is clear. Illegal pharmacies will face cancellation,” he said, emphasizing the government’s intent to enforce medical regulations strictly. Symbolizing long-term commitment to both healthcare and the environment, Konyak planted a sapling within the CHC premises. He also visited the local Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Satakha, where he interacted with patients and inspected medical supplies and laboratory facilities.

Later, the minister proceeded to review the ongoing construction at the upcoming District Hospital in Zunheboto. He was accompanied by Advisor for Food & Civil Supplies, K.T. Sukhalu, and senior Health Department officials, including the Secretary and the Principal Director. Konyak concluded his visit by encouraging BJP workers in the region to remain active and supportive of development goals aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Nagaland for Viksit Bharat.” He reiterated that political and community support is vital to delivering quality healthcare to every corner of the state.
