MoE Delegation Reviews RUSA and PM-USHA Higher Education Projects in Nagaland

A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, visited Nagaland for three days to review the progress of higher education projects being implemented under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA). The delegation was led by Armstrong Pame, Joint Secretary (ICC & RUSA), Ministry of Education. The visit took place from January 14 to January 17 and focused on assessing both the physical progress and financial utilisation of projects across the state.

As part of the visit, a one-day Regional Workshop on RUSA and PM-USHA was organised on January 16 in Kohima. The workshop brought together officials and representatives from Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Mizoram. It was hosted by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland. During the workshop, detailed discussions were held on issues related to the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), SNA-SPARSH, the PM-USHA online portal, and the overall status of ongoing projects. State-specific challenges were shared, and best practices were discussed to help improve implementation on the ground. The focus remained on ensuring better fund utilisation, smoother project execution and alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Nagaland’s Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of strengthening higher education infrastructure in the region. Following the workshop, the MoE delegation carried out on-site inspections of several PM-USHA-funded projects. At Dimapur Government College, the team reviewed facilities such as a girls’ hostel, academic block, incubation centre, skill hub and library upgradation works, covering both completed and ongoing components.The delegation also visited two Scheduled Tribe girls’ hostels at Kohima Science College and the Professional College of Music and Fine Arts Tsiesema to assess infrastructure development and student facilities.
