The Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita, has embarked on an official visit to South America, beginning with São Paulo, Brazil. His visit will also include stops in Uruguay, the Bahamas, Barbados, and Nicaragua. During his time in São Paulo, the Minister met with members of the Indian diaspora, expressing appreciation for their role in strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Brazil. In a post on social media platform X, he stated, “Delighted to interact with the Indian community in São Paulo. Their efforts in fostering stronger ties between India and Brazil and expanding India’s presence in Latin America are commendable.”
“I am confident that this strategic partnership will continue to strengthen, leading to deeper and more diversified engagement with Brazil and Latin America, fully realizing the potential of our relationship.” the MoS further added in his post.
According to an official press release from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Minister will attend the swearing-in ceremony of H.E. Mr. Yamandú Orsi, the President-elect of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. In the Bahamas, he will follow up on discussions held between the Prime Ministers of both nations during the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana in November 2024. The Minister’s visit will conclude in Nicaragua, where he is set to hold bilateral meetings. Notably, this marks the first-ever Ministerial visit to Nicaragua from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
