Nagaland Govt employee arrested for alleged m*lestation of 13-year-old girl

A Nagaland government employee was arrested for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl in the Lower Forest Colony. The accused, a driver with the state’s Forest Department, was taken into custody by the Kohima Women’s Police Station following an investigation.

The alleged assault took place in the second week of April 2025, in a garden within the residential area of Lower Forest Colony. According to police reports, the young girl was working in the garden when the accused approached her and committed the act. The incident went unreported for several weeks, but the bravery of the victim and her family in coming forward led to the suspect’s arrest on May 3, 2025.

The Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima, confirmed that the accused was apprehended at his residence after a preliminary investigation by the Women’s Police Station. “We acted promptly upon receiving the complaint,” the officer stated. “The suspect is now in judicial custody, and we are thoroughly investigating the matter to ensure justice is served.” The police have recorded the accused’s statement, but details of his account have not been disclosed as the investigation continues. A formal case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law at the Kohima Women’s Police Station.
