Dimapur police have arrested a man for illegally driving a vehicle onto the railway track at Dimapur Railway Station. In a press release, the Dimapur Police PRO said that on December 16, 2025, at around 11:35 pm, a Mahindra Thar (registration number NL-01 CA 8181) driven by Thepfuneituo (65), son of late Khriezo Rio and a resident of Signal Angami, Dimapur, unlawfully entered the railway track and got stuck on Line No. 1 near the old flyover area on the Burma Camp side.
Upon receiving the information, police personnel, in coordination with railway authorities, rushed to the spot. The vehicle was safely intercepted and removed from the tracks, ensuring that no harm was caused to passengers, railway property or the general public.
According to the PRO, preliminary inquiry suggests that the incident occurred due to gross negligence and violation of traffic and railway safety norms. The vehicle and the driver were taken into custody, and a case has been registered at RPF Dimapur.
Police said investigations are underway to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether alcohol or any other substance was involved.
Meanwhile, Dimapur police have strongly cautioned the public that unauthorised entry onto railway tracks is a serious offence and poses a grave threat to life and public safety. Such reckless acts not only endanger the individual involved but also put passengers and critical railway infrastructure at risk. Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious or unsafe activities to the authorities.
