The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of Nagaland, chaired by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, convened a high-level meeting at the State Banquet Hall in Kohima today, underscoring the urgent need to consolidate Naga political forces and avoid factionalism that has long complicated the peace process. The meeting brought together Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers, Members of Parliament, Advisors, and MLAs, reflecting the importance of the gathering at a time when Nagaland continues to seek a lasting political solution.
During the deliberations, the PAC unanimously endorsed the Ungma Statement of August 23, 2025, which emphasized unity, courage, and an enduring commitment of the Naga people to pursue a shared political future. The Committee urged all Naga Political Groups, with the backing of Tribal Hohos, to rally around a Common Ground that reflects the historical and political rights of the Naga people.“Consolidation is the only way forward. The strength of the Naga political movement lies in its ability to rise above divisions and pursue collective aspirations,” a senior member of the Committee observed. The PAC also reiterated the need for resuming peace talks at the political level to accelerate the ongoing negotiation process with the Government of India.
By pushing for dialogue at higher political authority, the Committee emphasized that meaningful progress could only be achieved when negotiations are conducted with seriousness and urgency. In addition to endorsing the Ungma Statement, the PAC reaffirmed the resolutions passed during the Consultative Meeting of September 12, 2024. That historic gathering had included broad representation from Tribal Hohos, civil society organizations, church bodies, NGOs, gazetted officers’ unions, student organizations, and political parties.
