Nagaland to Observe Earth Hour on March 28

The Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Nagaland has urged citizens to voluntarily participate in the global event ‘Earth Hour 2026’ by switching off non-essential electric lights on March 28, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm. The department has issued a notification to mark the milestone of 20 years of Earth Hour as requested by a powerful global movement, the WWF-India (Worldwide Fund for Nature-India) to support its observance. The landmark Earth Hour will be observed to create “The Biggest Hour for Earth”. The department has appealed to the citizens to help in raising awareness about the environmental issues affecting Earth by switching off all non-essential lights in all offices, workplace and homes from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on March 28 to observe the Earth Hour. Earth Hour, launched in 2007 by the Worldwide Fund for Nature – India (WWF-India), has evolved into the largest global environmental movement, which is now observed in over 190 countries and territories.
