Students all around India commemorated National Service Scheme (NSS) Day today by performing various acts of community service. In order to encourage students to participate in social service, the NSS was established in 1969. Students from colleges and schools come together to accomplish good deeds for society on this day every year. “Youth for a Better Tomorrow” was the topic for this year. NSS volunteers engaged in a variety of tasks, including teaching underprivileged kids, cleaning up the streets, planting trees, giving blood, and raising awareness of environmental and health issues. Students visited hospitals, elderly homes, and communities in various locations to provide assistance and disseminate helpful information.
Rallies for road safety and cleanliness were organized by certain groups. Others distributed clothing and food to those in need. NSS Day serves as a reminder that youth may effect constructive change. “Not Me, But You,” the NSS motto, encourages us to put the needs of others before our own. These students demonstrated by their deeds that true service is about doing something constructive for others and society, not merely saying nice things.
