The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance academic credential verification and integrate skill-based education into India’s higher education system.
The partnership will leverage the National Academic Depository (NAD) and institution-level data to create a robust, technology-driven verification framework. The NSDC Trust Platform will serve as a secure system for validating academic and skill qualifications, streamlining verification processes for universities and employers through online interfaces or API integration. AIU will encourage Indian and foreign institutions to adopt this platform to improve transparency and global recognition of Indian credentials. ShriVed Mani Tiwari, COO (Officiating CEO), NSDC & MD, NSDC International, emphasized the initiative’s role in aligning education with skilling, ensuring India’s workforce is future-ready. AIU President Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak highlighted the integration of skill education in academic programs to create a competitive talent pool.
In Guwahati, a growing hub for education and employment, this initiative is expected to benefit industries such as IT, healthcare, and finance by improving the credibility of job applicants. The seamless verification process will enhance workforce mobility and employer confidence. Additionally, a global academic equivalence platform will be introduced to compare Indian and international qualifications, further strengthening India’s position in the global education and employment landscape.
