NSDC and Rapido Join Forces to Empower Gig Workers with Skill Development and Job Opportunities

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has partnered with Rapido, one of India’s top bike taxi aggregators, to enhance gig economy opportunities through skill development for workers. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to bridge the gap between skilling and job creation by integrating trained individuals into the gig workforce, offering part-time and full-time employment opportunities.

Leveraging NSDC’s expertise in training and Rapido’s extensive fleet, the initiative will provide candidates with access to vehicles, skill development programs, and income prospects. The partnership is expected to equip drivers with the technical, behavioural, and safety skills needed to thrive as Rapido captains.

In Guwahati, this collaboration presents a promising opportunity to tap into the growing gig economy. With a rising demand for bike taxi services, local residents can benefit from skill-building initiatives, boosting employment and fostering economic growth in the region. This effort will not only enhance local employability but also provide flexible earning options, making a significant impact on Guwahati’s workforce. Rapido’s platform, which currently supports over two million captains across India, will also focus on inclusivity with its “Pink Mobility” initiative, supporting female drivers with special benefits.
