NSDC to launch centre for future skills at CCSU, aims to boost workforce readiness

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is setting up a Centre of Future Skills at Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), Meerut, under NSDC Academy, to train youth in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), Healthcare/Paramedical, and Language courses. Additionally, the Sports Physical Education Fitness & Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SC) will establish a Manufacturing-cum-Training facility for badminton racket and shuttlecock production, supported by CSR initiatives.

Two MoUs were signed on Saturday in the presence of Union Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary. The agreements focus on integrating skill-based training with mainstream education and empowering 600 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through skill-based employment. The initiative will leverage Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), NSDC JobX, and NSDC International for job placements.

With the increasing demand for skilled professionals, Guwahati’s job market stands to benefit from NSDC’s expansion. Businesses in Assam, especially in IT and healthcare, could gain access to a trained workforce. Additionally, the sports manufacturing sector presents opportunities for Northeast-based retailers, linking them with national supply chains.
