Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, amounting to Rs 20,500 crore, from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on August 2. This payment will benefit around 9.7 crore farmers nationwide.
Launched in 2019, the PM-Kisan scheme has now completed over five years, during which Rs 3.69 lakh crore has been directly transferred to farmers’ accounts through 19 instalments. The agriculture ministry confirmed that the upcoming instalment will continue this support by transferring Rs 20,500 crore to eligible farmers.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the instalment during a special event in his Varanasi constituency. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and senior officials recently reviewed preparations for the program at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi.
Under PM-Kisan, small and marginal farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually in three equal payments of Rs 2,000 each. To receive the 20th instalment, farmers must complete e-KYC, link Aadhaar with their bank accounts, and update land records, ensuring benefits reach genuine recipients.
