Resurrection Sunday Sunrise Service draws large gathering at Khuochiezie Kohima Local Ground

A large number of believers gathered at Khuochiezie Kohima Local Ground on Sunday morning as the Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship organised a Resurrection Sunday Sunrise Service to mark the occasion. The programme brought together members from different churches across Kohima, with prayers, hymns, and messages centred on the significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Delivering the main message, KBPF president Rev. Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachü said the present time is a critical phase where Christian faith is being tested. He pointed out that society is facing challenges at political, social, and spiritual levels. He also expressed concern that, at times, even elected representatives have compromised Christian values, which has affected the sentiments of believers.

Speaking on the meaning of the resurrection, he said it serves as a reminder for Christians to remain firm in their faith. He noted that while many believers profess faith in Christ, they often lose sight of these values in daily life, leading to confusion and moral decline. Sachü urged believers to reflect on their faith and questioned whether they truly accept the message of Christ’s death and resurrection. Referring to Jesus as “the resurrection and the life” and “the way, the truth and the life,” he said the message remains relevant for all. He also spoke about the suffering of Jesus Christ, describing it as a historical reality. He mentioned the pain endured during crucifixion, including the crown of thorns and physical suffering, and said it reflected the depth of sacrifice made for humanity.

Highlighting the spiritual meaning, he said Christ’s declaration “it is finished” symbolised a turning point, marking restored connection between God and humanity. He added that the resurrection represents victory over sin and gives hope to believers.Sachü called on people to repent and return to God, saying forgiveness and salvation remain open to all who believe. Earlier, the service was led by KBPF vice president Wongtokiu, while the invocation was delivered by Rev. Dr. Benry Lotha. Choirs from Kohima Phom Baptist Church and Sumi Baptist Church Kohima presented special songs during the programme. The benediction was pronounced by Rev. M. Nahngom.
